At the end of June we moved to northern Kansas and the wheat fields were unbelievable.  Travis said he hadn’t seen the crops that nice in awhile.  The crops averaged 50-70 bushels per acre.  The weather was nice and hot and we were able to cut the acres off pretty fast.

We spent the 4th of July in Oberlin, Kansas.  We camped a few blocks from the fairgrounds so we had a good view for the fireworks.  The crew had spent enough money on fireworks so we had a pretty good show of our own right at the campers.  We had a couple of rain days so the boys got to enjoy the nice city pool.

On the 13th of July we moved to Philip, South Dakota.  This year the grasshoppers were everywhere.  The farmers were having problems keeping them out of the fields.  The wheat was really good and averaged 45-60 bushels per acre.

On the 18th of July we moved to Gettysburg, South Dakota.  The crops have been nice and averaged 70 bushels per acre.  I can tell that we are getting closer to Minnesota because we are starting to have to wait on the rain.  It comes in little showers, just enough to shut us down for the day.

We are hoping to finish spring wheat this weekend and will be moving to Regent, North Dakota.

The summer has gone by so fast!  Alex and I will be going home soon so he can start football.  Once school starts the days get shorter and it seems like winter is right around the corner.  We have lots of harvesting left to do so hopefully mother nature will be nice to us!
